We are here to change the World

"We are here to change the world" is one of two songs featured in Michael Jackson's Disney film "Captain EO" first released in 1987. The second song is "Another part of me", which is more popular because it was included in Jackson's Bad album while "we are here to change the world" appeared much later in "The Ultimate Collection" album (limited edition) in 2004. "Another part of me" was also included in the Moonwalker movie. Surprisingly the dance moves (including the Moonwalk) with "we are here to change the world" in captain EO are comparable to those in Thriller.

And Captain Eo returned to Disneyland on Feb. 2010.

Here is the part 2 of full version of Captain Eo, which includes these two songs.

Speed Demon

Michael Jackson never stops surprising people. Watched a short video of Speed Demon before but first time watched this longer version from the Jackson' movie Moonwalker. Children would love this mini cartoon, along with many other favorite parts in this movie. This film seemed overshadowed by other Jackson's hits after his death. It definitely is one of Jackson's fine works

"Come Together"--notable cover versions

"Come together" was written by John Lennon and originally recorded and played by Beatles (1969-1972); American hard rock band Aerosmith performed one of the most successful cover versions of "Come Together" in 1978. Michael Jackson's cover version of "come together" was another successful one (in 1987?). Many other notable artists covered the song also such as Dianna Ross, Tina Turner, Elton John and more. This song became one of the most covered songs of all time.

Here are some most famous cover versions. Which one do you like it better?

Michael Jackson Thriller named to U.S. film registry

Michael Jackson's Thriller video was one of 25 films to be included for preservation in the 2009 National Film Registry of the Library of Congress-the world's largest archive of film, TV and sound recordings. It's the first music video named to the registry. The registry was established by the Congress in 1989. There are now total 525 films in the registry. The films were selected not as the "best" American films but instead for their enduring importance to U.S. culture. They have to be "culturally, historically or aesthetically" significant to be selected. The public nominated the film titles, the library selected those that met the criteria by consulting with the National Film Preservation Board.

Google added music "one box" search feature

You probably already used or are using this feature, but here is the official announcement from Google, and commentary news coverage from Matt McGee

However, it doesn't come out as "One Box" for some other musicians such as Michael Jackson. I was puzzled. If anybody knows please point out?

10 music technology trends next decade

Matt Rosoff's article "10 music-tech trends that will shape the next decade" reminds people of the power of technology on music-both production and consumption. It is fresh and makes you THINK though you may not agree with all the trends listed in the article. Here are the ten trends the author summarized: songs instead of albums; streams instead of downloads; in the cloud rather than on hard drives; fidelity rather than file size (quality over file size); production rather than consumption (In another 10 years, everybody will be a musician--or at least a recording artist?); suggestions rather than searches (personalized services become more important than search); spectacle rather than personality (entertaining over singing and playing); festivals rather than big concerts; and so on

Cut fat by following Michael Jackson's moves

Nobody sits without moving when watching Michael Jackson's music videos, so you may kill two birds with one stone--while enjoy the music and dance, cut your fat by following moves in the videos(If you don't hate Michael Jackson). Some complicated dance moves may be hard to follow like moon walk, but many moves we can imitate, not necessarily to be fancy, eloquently or fast. Many or almost all of Micheal Jackson's videos we can follow, like Thriller, Beat it, Bad, Billie Jean, Black or White, Who is it, Ghost and so on , and so on. You can watch and follow different videos, or just watch one of your favorites several times. Many of MJ's videos are classic videos, you won't get bored by watching them multiple times.
