How much U.S. tech billionaires lost in the economic crisis.
The richest people in the world have gotten poorer in this economic storm. This year the world's billionaires have an average net worth of $3 billion, down 23% in 12 months. The world now has 793 billionaires, down from 1,125 a year ago, according to Forbes. The tech billionaires took hard hit from the economic crisis also. Gates lost a massive $18 billion in the past year. Larry Ellison from Oracle lost $2.5 billion but moved up 10 spots from last year, to number 4 on the list. Larry and Sergey from Google both took a hit of over $6 billion each. See the complete list with ranking, net worth and lost(shocking lost!) from 2008, by Leena Rao
